Illustrator Tip: Recolor Artwork

So I just got the most  brillaint idea! For the next few weeks here at my little corner of the blogosphere, I will be posting an Illustrator tip every Saturday morning!

Today's tip is about a nifty tool that I am almost embarassed how long it took for me to notice this tool and realize its full potential.
The Recolor Artwork Tool.


Ever heard of it? If you haven't, don't be alarmed.  I think anything in Illustrator falls in the shadow of the Pen Tool.  (But the Pen Tool is pretty awesome, I think.)
Anyway, let's start with one of my ads because I have it on hand..

Now select everything you want to recolor using the Selection Tool (or, as I fondly refer to it, the black arrow.We're on a casual basis here, folks.) 

And notice how the little Recolor Artwork tool shows up? Click on it.

I dare you.

Here is the fun part. Say, I wanted to see what it would look like if I switched the teal and yellow.

All you have to do is drag the little yellow square to where the little teal square is. They switch places. That simple.  Really. 

Ooh, I do like that. 
I may have to try that for future ads! :)  Anyway.
If you wanted to completely change colors.. you just double click on the little teal or yellow square, in this case, I'm going to do teal, and the color box selection window will come up.  

And I am going to slide over to gray.. because I like gray. And yellow. They just go together.  Hit okay on the color select window, then okay on the Recolor Artwork window. 

And this is what you get!

Is that great or what? I was sooo happy when I found out about this tool. Especially rebranding my company, we switched from red to blue. Made things a lot easier.
